Apr 11, 2025 | Our work on the Thermodynamics of Spin-Imbalanced SU(N) Fermi Gases has been accepted by PRL. This is a collaborative work with Prof. Jo’s experimental group at HKUST. We find an interesting non-monotonic dependence of the fluctuations on the number of minority spins in a spin imbalanced SU(N) system. Xin-Yuan Gao from our group (co-first author) developed the theory, which matched experimental results primarily conducted by Chengdong He (first author) from HKUST. |
Apr 10, 2025 | Our work on Geometric Origin of Self-Intersection Points in Non-Hermitian Energy Spectra lead by the postdoc Jinghui Pi has been published by PRB. The non-Hermitian energy spectra of system with periodic boundary condition could be a spaghetti. This paper says that how exactly these spaghetti cross itself are related to the auxiliary generalized Brillouin zone (open chain) and the Brillouin zone (a concept for the periodic boundary condition, a unit circle). Note that auxiliary generalized Brillouin zone is a seemly purely mathematical concept, which could be think of the analytical continuation of the generalized Brillouin zone, a concept generalized to open quantum systems. |
Apr 1, 2025 | Our work on the Fate of hermalization of ultracold fermions with two-body dissipation lead by the Ph.D. student Xin-Yuan Gao from our group has been published by PRL. It also comes with a companion PRA paper Inelastic quantum Boltzmann equation of single-component Fermi gases for detailed analysis. It discusses the long time dynamics of a quantum system with two-body loss. |
