Xingli Li wins Excellent Poster Award for quantum Mpemba work
Congratulations to group member Xingli Li (李星利) on receiving the “Science China Press” Cup Excellent Poster Award (“中国科学杂志社”杯优秀墙报奖) at the 22nd National Conference on Condensed Matter Theory and Statistical Physics for his work on the quantum Mpemba effect!
The poster, Canonical Quantum Mpemba Effect in a Dissipative Qubit, presents joint work by Xingli Li, Yan Li, and Yangqian Yan. The study shows that a qubit prepared in a hotter thermal state can cool exponentially faster than one prepared in a colder thermal state under otherwise identical conditions. By accounting for the steady-state effective temperature, the work establishes a quantum counterpart of the classical Mpemba effect and proposes a quantum circuit using superconducting qubits to realize it.
